10 Years After

Amazing that Resonance and Hello Goodbye have now been broadcasting for 10 years. Glad that I managed to catch the last night of James III's wonderful installation showcasing the footage he shot of the show over several years: 10 TV screens sitting in his living room with the sound controlled by the foot pedals of an organ. I was also greatly impressed that the house next to James's has a blue plaque commemorating the creator of Fu Manchu: you don't get that in North London.

East Anglian Daily Pirates

Cycled up to the Water Rats to meet Judge Ed, Mr Adams and Lorraine and see the East Town Pirates - Rikky Flag and Jonny Learjet's new outfit, challenging west country piracy hegemony with unreconstructed tricorn rock and roll. A top night had by all me hearties.

Soup strainer

This summer I have been mostly occupied with toddler taming and cultivating facial hair. Sadly, the moustache has now gone as apparently it made me look like a serial killer. I thought it had a certain Donald Sutherland/Kurt Vonnegut feel to it, but alas I am now feeling the first hints of autumn on my upper lip once more. Other pics from very enjoyable recent outing to Hastings.

I'll disarm those who carry guns, and neutralise their caustic tongues

Been neglecting the blog for a bit. Here's a couple of pictures from the Thames Festival and one of our Matty on Walberswick beach last Sunday. I currently have Orange Juice and Ken Campbell reading Lewis Carroll on very heavy rotation. Sublime!

The West Country

Escaped from London for 10 days in Cornwall, Devon and Somerset, walking on the beaches, frequenting some brilliant pubs - the Tucker's Grave in Faulkland being a case in point, and visiting Siegried Sassoon's last resting place in Mells, a most quintessentially English village. Bloody marvellous.
